West of Tehran, Alborz Province rises from the Karaj plain to the snow-covered summits of the mountain range that bears its name. Winding roads, rivers and waterfalls meet Safavid caravanserais and bold twentieth-century architecture. Close to the capital, Alborz offers a swift passage from urban energy into mountain stillness.

Shifting light on the cliffs, roadside waterfalls and mountain villages make the journey itself part of the destination.
