Chalus Road
Alborz · IRAN DIGITAL WALL

A journey north from Karaj becomes a lesson in mountain terrain. The road follows the river valley before climbing through tunnels, over bridges and around the folds of the Alborz. Completed in 1933, it also records the engineering effort needed to cross this landscape. Look beyond the road itself: waterfalls break the rock faces, villages occupy the mountain slopes, and light alters the cliffs as the route changes direction. The appeal lies in that succession of views, rather than in a single stop at the end.
