Give the spaces between the monuments as much attention as the monuments themselves. Cyrus’s austere tomb anchors Pasargadae, but the palace remains and four-part royal garden expand the story beyond a single ruler’s burial place. Together they outline the first Achaemenid capital and the beginnings of an architectural language that would develop across the empire. Reading the garden plan alongside the buildings also explains why this site matters to the Persian garden tradition. Its reward is the gradual reconstruction of a royal landscape from surviving fragments.
