Darband is compelling for the transition it shows at Tehran’s northern edge. The foothill neighbourhood opens onto a streamside route, passing restaurants and teahouses before continuing through rocky gorges towards higher Alborz trails. A visit can centre on that changing relationship between city life and mountain terrain, rather than on reaching a particular summit. Notice how the water and rock become more prominent along the route. The higher paths are a different undertaking from a neighbourhood stroll, so shape your outing around the terrain and your preparation.
