Tehran became Iran’s capital under the Qajars, and Golestan Palace still presents that era’s art and architecture at the city’s historic core. The Grand Bazaar, museums and newer landmarks place several chapters of Iranian history alongside contemporary metropolitan life.
The province extends beyond the capital: ancient Rey offers an earlier urban history, while Damavand and Firuzkuh lead into Alborz landscapes. Combining a few city days with a provincial excursion gives a fuller view of the region.
