The depth of the Khiav River valley is central to the appeal of Meshgin Shahr’s suspension bridge. The walkway spans that space high above the valley, turning a crossing into an opportunity to look at the landscape from another angle. Views towards Sabalan connect the contemporary structure with the mountain that defines the region. One of the city’s best-known modern visitor attractions, the bridge complements visits to older places with a different subject: height, distance and the relationship between a built passage and the terrain beneath it.
