Zard Kuh is a place to think about where rivers begin. Among the highest mountain massifs of the Zagros, it forms an important source area for both the Karun and Zayandeh Rud systems. Its sharp ridges and snowfields give that hydrological role a visible mountain setting. Bakhtiari summer pastures add a human dimension to the highlands, showing that these slopes are also part of a seasonal way of life. The interest is in reading the landscape together: rock, snow and pasture connect the mountain’s physical character with the rivers and people beyond it.
