Mangroves are part of Soheili’s working relationship with the coast, not simply a backdrop. On Qeshm Island, tidal creeks and mangrove forests support boat trips and birdwatching, while handicrafts and seafood also contribute to village livelihoods. Residents raise and replant mangrove seedlings, placing environmental care alongside economic activity. Soheili was selected for UN Tourism’s Best Tourism Villages programme in 2025, a recognition distinct from UNESCO World Heritage status. A visit can focus on these connections between daily life, tourism and a tidal ecosystem, without assuming that any particular bird will be seen.
