Chogha Zanbil
Khuzestan · IRAN DIGITAL WALL

Chogha Zanbil is organised around the monumental form of its stepped ziggurat, the centre of an Elamite sacred city. After taking in that scale, shift attention to the inscribed bricks, temples and enclosing walls. These are essential evidence for ancient Elam’s religion and architecture, placing the central monument within a broader ceremonial setting. The visit offers two useful scales of observation: the detail of a written brick and the structure of an entire sacred settlement. Holding both in view makes the site more meaningful than a distant look at the ziggurat alone.
