Karun River
Khuzestan · IRAN DIGITAL WALL

Through Ahvaz, the Karun is an axis of public life as well as a river dividing the eastern and western banks. Looking across those banks helps explain the city’s relationship with water. The White Bridge, Iran’s first suspension bridge, has become a familiar emblem of Ahvaz; its pale arches are particularly striking around sunset, when city lights join their reflections in the river. Give attention to the bridge, the riverbanks and the changing image on the water. This is a way to understand contemporary Ahvaz through the scale of everyday urban scenery.
