Khorramabad Bridges
Lorestan · IRAN DIGITAL WALL

The bridge highlighted here is Kashkan, whose surviving stonework crosses a river valley on one of Lorestan’s historic routes. Its scale remains legible in the massive piers and tall arches, even where the structure is incomplete. A Kufic inscription places construction in the late fourth century AH. Looking at the spacing of the supports helps explain the engineering ambition behind a crossing of this size. The visit connects architecture with movement: these remains speak not only of skilled masonry, but of the importance of maintaining routes through the Zagros.
