Meyghan Wetland
Markazi · IRAN DIGITAL WALL

Meyghan is a changing landscape rather than a lake with a fixed outline. Near Arak, this seasonal saline wetland expands or contracts with water levels, altering the relationship between open water, salt flats and salt-tolerant plants. Winter is associated with cranes and other migratory birds, though a visit cannot promise particular sightings. The most useful way to look at it is across those shifting bands of water, pale ground and vegetation. They make the wetland’s seasonal character visible and give a different perspective on the plains around the provincial capital.
