Shahr-e Sukhteh
Sistan & Baluchestan · IRAN DIGITAL WALL

Shahr-e Sukhteh was once a major city in ancient Sistan, with homes, craft quarters and a cemetery during the third millennium BCE. Today, remains of those areas and diverse finds bring traces of its inhabitants into view. This is a stop for travellers who enjoy archaeology and the search for everyday life in ancient places. Come for the evidence of living and working, rather than a skyline of intact buildings. Across the site, an early urban community on the eastern Iranian Plateau emerges through the spaces where people made their homes, practised crafts and buried their dead.
