Abbasabad Garden
Mazandaran · IRAN DIGITAL WALL

Abbasabad shows Persian garden design working within a forested setting. On the slopes near Behshahr, the Safavid ensemble combines garden, lake, dam, tower and water channels, making the management of water central to its layout. The chahar-taq pavilion changes its visual relationship with the lake as water levels vary; at higher levels it appears island-like. Mist, when present, further softens the geometry against the woodland. As a component of UNESCO’s Persian Garden property, the place is worth seeing for the way garden structure and engineering belong to the same landscape.
