Soltaniyeh’s power comes from the relationship between its immense dome and its architectural construction. Built in the early fourteenth century as Oljaytu’s mausoleum, the monument uses a double-shell brick dome with turquoise decoration. This Ilkhanid achievement influenced later dome building across the region and is a UNESCO World Heritage property. Give the structure time: first take in its scale, then consider how the two-shell solution supports that impression. The visit becomes more rewarding when colour and engineering are read together rather than as separate attractions.
