Taq-e Bostan
Kermanshah · IRAN DIGITAL WALL

Begin with the stone frame, then look at the scenes held inside it. Taq-e Bostan’s rock-cut arches preserve royal investiture and hunting imagery from the Sasanian period, major records of court art in late-antique Iran. Their interest lies in how images communicate authority, rather than age alone. Comparing ceremonial subjects with the hunting scenes gives the carvings a clearer narrative role. The visit rewards close looking at the relationship between the figures, the subjects and the carved architectural setting that was made to contain them.
