Zarivar Lake
Kurdistan · IRAN DIGITAL WALL

Zarivar brings a broad water view to the mountain country around Marivan. Freshwater rises from springs in the lake bed, supplemented by snowmelt, while wooded slopes enclose the basin. At the margins, reed beds create a different texture from the open surface. Mist may soften the view early in the day; winter can sometimes freeze the water. These changing conditions are part of its appeal, rather than a scene to expect on every visit. Spend time looking from the shoreline towards the surrounding hills, where water and forest share the same frame.
