Takht-e Soleyman
West Azerbaijan · IRAN DIGITAL WALL

At Takht-e Soleyman, the lake is not separate from the monuments: it is part of the sacred ensemble. An oval platform amid volcanic mountains holds an artesian lake, the principal Zoroastrian fire sanctuary, a temple of Anahita and Sasanian palaces. Together they connect water, worship and royal authority across some 2,500 years of sacred history. Inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 2003, the site rewards looking across the whole setting before examining the remains. The relationship between architecture and landscape gives the visit its strongest impression.
